PAL stands for "Playing and Learning"

WORLD KIDS PAL PAGE

Each month, children can receive the monthly "World Kids PAL Page" which has fascinating facts about what life is like for children in other countries, along with a child's true testimony and related puzzle. In this way, children can start to understand about other cultures and become interested to learn about life in other countries at an early age.

We can send the PAL Page via e-mail or regular mail, and it can then be printed and photocopied to be shared with other children in a Sunday School class or children's group. It is available in English or Spanish, and is presently sent to contacts in North, Central and South America, India, the Philippines and Africa. We encourage children and families to write to others around the world, through our contacts in many countries, such as Mike Mwanikha in Kenya.

You can see his picture on our News page: Mike Mwanikha

If you would like to write to some of the children he ministers to (or other contacts we have overseas) contacts us: mailto:shirley@imofinc.org

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES

We have developed a number of dynamic ways to help children become personally involved in missions. Using simple teachings based on specific bible passages, we have suggested exciting activities that encourage children to put their faith into action. Some of the examples are as follows:

1. Writing to prisoners

A skit acted in mime to the narration of the parable of the sheep and goats (Matthew 25:31-46) can be prepared and presented by a group of children or youth, to the church or Christian school. Then various children can share about the Christians that are imprisoned in Egypt (see our page "True Freedom Outreach" Prison ministry) and encourage people to write letters of encouragement or give a donation. We have a list of dozens of English-speaking Christian prisoners in Egypt who would love to receive a note or drawing from a child, and letters from adults.

2. Easter  fundraiser

We have an Easter fundraiser that children can help with, in order to raise funds to help the prisoners mentioned above. A special recipe for Easter cookies is like an object lesson as each stage of the making of the cookies relates to part of the Easter story. The recipe can be photocopied and produced as a small illustrated booklet, then combined with a few simple ingredients, to form a package that is attractive and economical to sell and raise funds.

3. Summer project

We have an exciting project that will help keep children busy and learning how to put their faith into action, during the summer vacation. It is based on a lesson teaching the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30). The church or parents of a group of children need to initially invest (or loan) $10 for each child - this buys a small sample of the beautiful handmade beadwork produced by the Christian inmates mentioned above. We will provide promotional material along with one beaded necklace, one beaded pen cover, and one beaded key ring, for each child. A set time (number of weeks) is allotted during which the children research and learn more about the True Freedom Outreach ministry, life in Egypt, and the difficulties of living as a Christian in a non-Christian environment. Each child is challenged to go out and share his/her knowledge with family and friends, and raise funds for the ministry by selling each beadwork item above its cost price. Whenever he/she has sold all three items, the proceeds are returned to the teacher, who sets aside the original $10 and puts the extra into the special fund for the prisoners. The child then has the opportunity to stop, or use the $10 for another sample set. Prizes could be awarded at the end of the allotted time to those children who gained most funds for the prisoners.

4. Pre-Christmas project

In October/November, teaching can be focused on a specific country and the children can research what life is like there. We have contacts with children's ministries in many needy countries around the world and can put you in touch with children's ministers there. Then a "care package" can be prepared with small, lightweight items brought by the children, to be sent to the children overseas. (Such as powdered drink mix, stickers, hard candy or gum, colored pencils, notepads, toy cars, hair barrettes etc) Christmas cards, letters and drawings, and even photos can be added from the children. If the package is sent by airmail by the end of November, it should arrive before Christmas. We have several fascinating true testimonies of how God has used such care packages in miraculous ways! Cross-cultural friendships and pen pals could even result!

SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

This is an exciting plan to enable children in the USA to send the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Bible to children around the world who do not have the opportunity to hear the Gospel as we do. 97% of the children of the world live OUTSIDE the USA! Most churches in the world have very poor or non-existent children's ministry with few workers and even fewer resources!

The two Bible picture games that we have published, "Bible Bingo" and "Christian Fishin", can easily be used in any language by a teacher who has a little Bible knowledge and understands the simple concept. They each last about 30 minutes and involve the telling of Bible stories combined with pictures. These games are at present available with instructions in English or Spanish, yet are being used by missionaries and local native workers in more than 20 countries around the world. We have contacts in many countries who would like to receive these games and put them to good use in needy churches.

With a one time gift of only $6.00 U.S. a child or group of children can sponsor these games (or other children's ministry resources) to be sent abroad to help spread the Gospel to children, and so become involved in missions from an early age. As of  June 2006, these two Bible picture games, along with some of our other resources in English or Spanish, have been sent to more than 20 countries around the world, so that children can hear the Gospel and learn about the Bible!

There are millions of children, like these in Cuba, who are waiting to hear about Jesus; and also many churches and individuals who are desperate for teaching ideas and resources - you can read some of their testimonies here:
